Tanzania, Serengeti National Park, Simba Kopjes. A lioness walks away from another member of her pride who iw resting on top of one of the rocky outcrops known as kopjes. Kopjes are ancient granite outcrops. The word kopje means little head in Afrikaans. They are common features of the landscape of the southern Serengeti, often described as rock castles in a sea of grass.
